Alexa Campbell

Alexa CampbellAlexa Campbell is a teacher, technical writer and editor. She has been at Red River College since 1998 as an instructor of technical communication. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in physiological psychology, as well as a Bacehlor of Education degree. She completed her Master of Education degree, in Adult Education, in 2006.

Alexa has over 20 years’ professional experience in technical writing on science, technology and other topics, and over 35 years’ experience as a teacher, trainer and workshop leader. Before coming to the College, she worked as a technical writer in business for many years, and she also ran her own company for more than seven years.

Highlights of Alexa’s career include presenting at international and local conferences of the Society for Technical communication (STC), writing the proposal for and then developing the two-year technical communication diploma program at Red River College, initiating the Canadian Issues Special Interest Group for STC, and becoming the founding president of the Manitoba chapter of the STC. She is a long-time member of both STC and the IEEE Professional Communication Society. She became a Fellow of the Society for Technical Communication in 2001. Her publications include

  • Current and Desirable Practices of Technical Communication in Western Canada, part of a project looking at the status of technical communication in western Canada (1993–94)
