New to the conference this year—special education stream

New to the conference this year is a two day special education stream “Technical communication skills for technical people” supported by APEGM and hosted by Red River College and STC Manitoba.

The education stream is designed with engineers, technologists, and technicians in mind, but suitable for all professionals wanting to sharpen their writing, presentation, and basic design/layout skills.


In the modules offered through this stream, learn how to

  • improve document usability (readability, accessibility, maintainability)
  • improve your efficiency (reduce the hours spent drafting and revising)
  • enhance your presentations

Specific areas of focus include

  • indexing
  • writing instructions and procedures
  • streamlining your writing
  • creating graphics and using them effectively
  • learning basic page design and layout principles
  • creating more effective slide presentations
  • creating more powerful oral presentations

Enrolment is limited to 20 and space is available on a first come, first serve basis. Attendance will be monitored to qualify for 15 professional development units for APEGM members.


All participants attending the special education stream are required to attend both the keynote and closing speakers sessions.


Workshop presenters will include Red River College instructors Nirdosh Ganske, Kevin Longfield, Kathy Davis, Lyndsey Amott and Alexa Campbell.


Lunch is included in the registration fees. Participants will be provided with lunch for both days of the education stream allowing more time for participants to network and get to know one another better.

Remember, the earlier you register, the more you save.
